The Impact of Global Moms & Social Media

A one-day summit in New York City focused on motherhood and our role in social media and philanthropy was an amazing day to remember. I was honored to be a speaker for the Mom+Social Summit hosted by the United Nations Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Johnson & Johnson, Huffington Post, Baby C Menter and 92Y Tribeca.  But we didn’t just socialize, we turned our social media voices into making a difference. Our voices were heard around the globe and helped change the health of moms and children everywhere!

I shared the stage with fellow speakers JLo, Brandy, Super Model Christy Turlington, Photographer Nigel Barker of America’s Next Top Model, and a host of other celebrities who gave their hearts for this worthy cause.

Before the summit, momentum began with the Global Mom Relay, a 60-day online relay connecting moms and experts in all 50 states and 141 countries to share their personal experiences and the global causes they care about.

Between Mom+Social and Global Mom Relay, our voices helped raise awareness about the needs of women and their families and give opportunities to children. As a result, we were able to unlock $485,000.00, inspire 97,000 actions, and reach 4,000 people via the Mom+Social livestream. If that’s not success, I don’t know what is!

What are you doing to lend your voice to a cause greater than yourself?
