I’m not speaking of the Hippie style 60’s with two-finger peace signs, tie-dye shirts and who can forget, “Make peace (or love) not war.” Although those flower children were obviously on to something…LOL, that is not my focus here. I’m speaking of the old adage, “Peace lies within.”
I was always comforted by my father as a child when I had a hard day. His simple words to me were, “Go back into peace.” That simple statement would shift things for me and I would immediately begin to change my thinking. As a wife and mother, I still often speak my father’s words to myself. I gift them to you as well. When others try to steal it away, tell yourself, “GO BACK INTO PEACE!”
I believe it is a personal choice to allow your feathers to get ruffled by circumstances or people. So what would happen if we all make a conscious decision that no matter what, “I’M NOT GIVING MY PEACE AWAY? ” Sometimes for the sake of a clear mind, it may be best to EXIT before the credits roll.
Many of the great leaders, teachers, theologians, and even songwriters of our time warn against compromising your own peace:
For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. ~ Proverbs 1:32-33
The belief that peace is desirable is rarely enough to achieve it. Peace requires responsibility. Peace entails sacrifice. ~ President Barack Obama
Imagine all the people, living life in peace. ~ John Lennon, Imagine
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. ~ Mother Teresa
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind. ~ Mohandas Gandhi
I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself. ~ Nelson Mandela
The most valuable possession you can own is an open heart. The most powerful weapon you can be is an instrument of peace. ~ Carlos Santana
I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government had better get out of their way and let them have it. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower
It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
In whatever way we choose to receive it, let’s do ourselves a favor and walk in PEACE.
